The landscape, materials, structures, systems and design of the golf course are valuable assets, but they are not well documented. Poor documentation decreases project performance, increases management costs, and leaves assets exposed. Good asset information provides an accurate basis for planning, supports best management, and protects assets. 
With 3D Laser Scanning we can now document and quantify the most valuable asset - the design. This working study shows low resolution scan lines draped across the undulation of the green. A New Approach The golf course asset is only minimally documented by typical aerial basemaps and as-built drawings. Locations and elevations are imprecise. Distances and areas are off. The 3-dimensional shape of the green is not captured. Data is not integrated and not easily accessed and used.
