  Playing Surface Visualization

This animation is a series of computer generated views of an existing hole complex that uses perspective and lighting to study the playing surface of the green and surrounds.

This landform study shows an innovative use of computer graphic tools for golf course design and communications.  Standard golf course visualizations, such as course fly-overs and hole fly-throughs are also  produced at the highest quality from TerraVea datasets.

This 'as-built' data (collected on the ground to 1-inch accuracy!)  provides the architect an exact greens surface map for analysis, design and reconstruction.  And now, exact volumes of the complex golf course surfaces can be reliably calculated and predicted.

Download Notes:

This is an 8.8mb file, so it will take a while to download on a modem.
(Right-click on the link and "SAVE TARGET AS" to your computer).

You should be able to automatically run the animation by clicking on the file - starting your media viewer.

This animation is fairly large and memory intensive, so playback will vary depending on your computer and how many other programs that you may have open.  Animations can be optimized for less intensive forms, like web publication.

For a smaller file, download the animation as compressed in this promo slideshow (right-click to "SAVE TARGET AS").  (Make sure that the file extension is *.PPS so that it will open in a standalone viewer without starting PowerPoint.  You can rename the file to *.PPS if it reads as a *.PPT).
